Past Three Freewrites

I belong to a different time
A time before I met him I belong to a time before me existed I was there before and ancient old and creaking like babies first breaths though his nostrils I am here I was there I am here now knowing what I knew then I carry it in my spine I hold it below my mind I don’t know what to say without hearing the echoes of the past before the beginning of the past that stole my future I am speaking in poetry my breaths are tired now they are struggling my fingers aching from the blow of my mind’s wires whistling through each other screaming inaudible words perhaps they are these echoes perhaps they are song lyrics of time

When the earth is still in itself its life will die out like the light at the end of our wick I was thinking something a little more introspective and the planet responded in its unusual way, freezing itself without thought or care selfless it paused the time I begged for in a way that my past never seemed to understand and my future never thought it could hope for I wasn’t trying to hurt it by leaving it lonesome and waiting for me. I was only trying to pass peace through my mind and touch the earth in a split of consciousness I was only letting myself pour into the calm water of the ocean to sweep some clarity for all of us here for life here for those of us who didn’t know any better.

There was a woman who lived in my grandmothers building raised at the same time as my mother two lives similar childhood struggles and yet they spilt paths parted hair ends washed upon different shores I wonder what caused it where the minute was where my mother said no and she said yes the moment when her inhibitions froze into those shining crystal crack rocks and my mother laughed along with a furrowed brow where the childhood books my mother read became a reality for her and a dream sipped off a high for this woman this woman this woman a woman or a girl still inside of her, where did my mother grow and spoon feed some of her life on to me and she paused she stood still in her own self a soul crying in a glass cage bloomed and passed on for she had a child as well one who grew at the same time I did but under unsimiliar circumstances and I wonder if in fact her child will grow and I will stay here frozen screaming through a different high.
